“Ine Orre” Reuben Sarkisian Orchestra Vart Sarkisian, vocals Reuben Sarkisian, violin John Berberian, oud Recorded in Hollywood - 1948 This recording is the first Armenian interpretation of the famous song “Miserlou” as composed by Nick Roubanis Reuben Sarkisian composed the melody and wrote the lyrics a little over 12 years prior to Dick Dale’s surf-rock version. Decades before Uma Thurman danced to it in a movie, Vart Sarkisian sang these beautiful words. The songs and lyrics Reuben Sarkisian arranged spread throughout America and the world. Soon after this recording the magnificent tandem of Batt Masian and Onnik Dinkjian recorded their much jazzier version. Others have recorded Rueben’s words though sadly none gave the man the credit he deserved. The modern day version of the song is commonly known as “Anoush Yar” and it still carries great popularity.
