2D Numerical simulation of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability

This is a numerical simulation with a 512x512 mesh, viscosity=1e-6, Ly=Lz=1. Initially we have v=-1 in the upper half part and v=1 in the lower half part. Boundary conditions are periodic in both directions. A noise of amplitude 1e-4 is added to both components of velocity in order to trigger the instability. The numerical scheme is Finite Volume on a structured grid of constant mesh size with a staggered scheme. (See “Low viscosity flow simulations for animation“, by Molemaker etal, A difference . Molemaker's work is that a FFT solver is used for pressure. The time step is Dt=6e-4. The colormap corresponds to x-vorticity with a logarithmic map.
