Текст с Bandcamp’а: “Founded in March 2015, Alternative Ulster hails from NY State’s Catskill’s region. After the release of their debut album, Rebellion, the band went through personnel changes leading to the current line-up of John McGovern on bagpipes, guitar, bass and backing vocals and Todd Henry on vocals and drums. In the recording studio, the real guitar hero is Jay Anderson, who handles all recording and mixing. For live shows, original member Jerry McCluskey is back on guitar and the rhythm section is Jacen Palisi on bass and Steve Hoelter on drums. 4 tracks have already been recorded and are pending release. Up first, Pog Mo Thoin, followed by our Christmas tune, Krampus, our homage to our Celtic punk rock drinking buddies, Drunk as Fuck, and Ghetto Piper. To date 20 new songs have been written and demoed and are awaiting Jay’s studio magic at Operation-Audio in Saugerties, NY. Inspired by the likes of Dropkick Murphys, Black Tartan Clan, The Real McKenzies and Flatfoot 56, John took up the bagpipes in 2010. In addition to Alternative Ulster, John is a piper for the Hudson Valley Regional Police Pipes and Drums as well as the Ulster County Sheriff’s Honor Guard. Todd is the drum instructor for HVRPPD. Slainte! If you’re Irish born and bred, here’s what your people said, in times of pain or dread, POG MO THOIN, POG MO THOIN Against the viking’s axe, against the british tax, against the lobsterbacks, POG MO THOIN, POG MO THOIN They stood and never fled, and fought until they’re dead, until their blood flowed red, POG MO THOIN, POG MO THOIN And in Amerikay, they labored night and day, for a peasant’s pay, POG MO THOIN, POG MO THOIN So, sing with wit and class, shout with balls of brass, Kiss My Irish Ass! POG MO THOIN, POG MO THOIN released November 23, 2017 Lyrics by John McGovern Music by Jay Andersen, Todd Henry and John McGovern Recorded and mixed November 20, 2017 by Jay Andersen @ Operation-Audio, Saugerties, NY“
