The New Royal Hotel, Rubyvale located 40 to 50 kms outside Emerald and right next door to Sapphire for a small town it packs a punch as country towns go, the pub is new but in keeping with using local stone called billy boulders and local iron bark with no internal lining it is a modern pub build to the old methods good work to the builders. The original Royal Hotel closed June 1961 and destroyed by fire in 1987. The “New Royal Hotel” was built in 1997 on the same site that Kate Leahy’s hotel had opened 90 years earlier.
