David Lammy, the Foreign Secretary, called Iran’s move to provide ballistic missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine a “significant and dangerous escalation”. Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv alongside Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, Mr Lammy said: “It is Putin who has escalated this week with the shipment of ballistic missiles from Iran and we’re seeing this new axis, Russia, Iran, North Korea.” “This is a significant and dangerous escalation [in the war],” he declared. On Tuesday, Washington accused the Russian military of having received shipments of Iranian Fatah-360 ballistic missiles. The announcement comes as Mr Zelensky once again called on Britain and America to make a “strong decision” by letting him use long-range missiles deep in Russian land, reinforcing that “any restrictions” needed to be lifted. Neither Mr Lammy nor Mr Blinken provided an update over whether restrictions would be lifted.
