Around 200 troops from the Light Dragoons are being trained as gunners - working into the night to practice their shooting at Warcop Training Area in Cumbria. The night-firing exercise made for a breathtaking sight with the blast of flares over the hillside, the glow of tracers across the range and flash of muzzle blasts. The soldiers fired general purpose machine guns, heavy machine guns and grenade machine guns from the back of Jackal armoured vehicles. Trooper Josh Robison said: “I knocked down a target so I was chuffed with that. It was the first time I’ve shot a grenade machine gun which was really good!”
