To celebrate Undertale’s 5th anniversary, I’d like to show you what I’ve been working on for the past month: DELTAENGINE! This is a Deltarune engine that I’ve been developing for Game Maker Studio 1 (it might work in GMS2 as well, not sure), and it’s also the new engine for DF’s Story Mode! For more information, please read this devlog if you’re interested: This engine has been built from the ground up, and is not only going to be used for DF, but it will also be available for PUBLIC USE sometime in the future! This means anyone will be able to download the engine and make their own Deltarune fangames with it! Now, here’s a brief FAQ: Q) Why is DF changing into a Deltarune fangame? A) A few reasons, mainly the creative freedom. There’s a LOT of Undertale fangames now (way more than when DF first started), but very few Deltarune fangames, so I’m really interested in getting one out there! Deltarune’s systems are also a lot more interesting to play around with lol. Q) Will this engine be free to use? A) Of course! Anyone will be able to use the engine, the only condition is that you credit me for it if you use it! Q) Will there be documentation with the engine? A) I was planning on doing a tutorial video demonstrating how the engine works. I tried to make the engine as easy to use as possible, but the video will show you step-by-step how to use the engine so you don’t get lost! Q) When will the engine release? A) Not really sure yet. At the moment, I’m planning on releasing it sometime after DF Story Mode is finished (later next year), but I might release the engine earlier, we’ll have to see! That should cover everything!
