Haitian populist Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier has been building a power base in the capital of Port-au-Prince, uniting diverse gangs in an effort to create a united front of the underclass against the elites who own and run Haiti. Of course the United States opposes this, which is why Barbecue has been smeared in mainstream American media as a cannibal. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger talk to documentarian and investigative journalist Dan Cohen about how the U.S. is seeking to send Kenyan soldiers who participated in death squads at home to “police” the streets of Port-au-Prince and put down Cherizier’s rebellion from below.
