Grandmaster Rene R. Tongson is the International Chief Instructor and Director of the Abaniko Tres Puntas Classical Arnis International Federation, which he inherited and was appointed the caretaker by its founder, the late Grandmaster Mateo D. Estolloso of Antique, Panay Island. Grandmaster Rene is also Chair of the Board of Trustees of Modern Arnis and is one of the Grandmasters of the International Modern Arnis Federation – Philippines (IMAFP) under Professor Remy Presas. Grandmaster Rene is also the secretary general of the Philippine Es­krima Kali Amis Federation (PEKAF). His other accomplishments include: the FMA Digest’s 2006 Man of the Year Award, inductee to WHFSC HALL OF FAME Grandmaster of the year (2006), 1st Philippine Martial Arts HALL of FAME International GrandMaster of the Year (2013), and a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 8th FMA Festival in 2016.
