During the Second World War, one of the greatest aircraft that was used by the USAAF was the B-29 Superfortress. It was a huge heavy bomber aircraft, and was considered a very feared and dangerous aircraft as it caused devastation in the Pacific. It also was the aircraft that carried the Atomic Bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but in England there is a huge wreckage of a plane crash in which a B-29 crashed into the top of a hill in the Peak District. The B-29 Superfortress 'Over Exposed' had a rich history as it was used in nuclear weapons tests to photograph the effects of the atom bomb dropped in Bikini Atoll. It was also used in the Berlin Airlift to restock Berlin of food and supplies. But on the 3rd November 1948, Over Exposed embarked on a routine flight from RAF Scampton to RAF Burtonwood, an American Airbase.
