Professional sport also has its negative sides which are injuries. The pictures in the film refer to X-ray images in terms of aesthetics, and the off-screen commentaries explain the characteristics of injuries in various fields of sport. A knockout in boxing often results in a loss of consciousness. Although a boxer does not usually remember this moment, the injury affects the body. In football, injury depends on the athlete’s intentions: whether he intends to touch the ball or to attack the opponent. Athletics seem to be safe, but it can also lead to overloads, tears and sprains of the joints. In weightlifting, the more you train, the more prone to injuries you get. Among the speakers are: Jerzy Kulej (boxing), Kazimierz Górski (football), Kazimierz Dejna (football), Tadeusz Ślusarski (pole vault), Leszek Wodzyński (hurdles), Zygmunt Smalcerz (weightlifting), Józef Lipień (wrestling ) and doctors. Their statements vary in the degree of emotional involvement. Athletes explain the role of the athlete’s psyche in controlling the negative effects of injuries and continuing to fight for the result. On the other hand, doctors tell about it from the medical and physiological point of view. A sports documentary by Andrzej Brzozowski, an experienced documentary filmmaker and an author of Rozmowy jazzowe (1957), To jest jajko (1965), Archeologia (1967). The film belongs to the category of documentary films about sport, which, as far as the Polish cinema is concerned, is made up of films by Bogdan Dziworski, Jacek Bławut and others.
