A independently-produced documentary covering John Carpenter’s 1978 horror classic Halloween (1978), written, edited and directed by Dave James and narrated by Dylan Shape Lives will concern Carpenter’s early career, Halloween’s impact on the genre, and its numerous sequels, leading up to the original film’s fortieth anniversary and the release of David Gordon Green’s Halloween (2018).The documentary will comprise ten chapters: “The Boy from Bowling Green,“ covering Carpenter’s early life and film projects.“The Night Before He Came Home,“ focusing on Carpenter’s 1978 telefilm Someone’s Watching Me! and how it relates to Halloween.“The Night He Came Home,“ detailing Halloween’s production.“The Final Girl,“ a tribute to Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode.“The Good Doctor,“ concerning Donald Pleasence and Dr. Sam Loomis.“Halloween Night, 1963,“ an analysis of the opening sequence.“A Score to Kill For,“ taking a look at Carpenter’s iconic soundtrack.“The Night Never Ends,“ focusing on Halloween’s sequels.“The Curse of Michael Myers,“ detailing the many slasher film imitators.“All Roads Lead to Haddonfield,“ concluding the documentary with a look at where everyone involved in Halloween ended up, and what the future may hold.
