◾ Protests in China demand the deepening on Communist policies and the rejection of a capitalist model: ◾ Thousands of Chinese communist youths gathered for a huge demonstration at the Mao Zedong Square in the city of Shaoshan, Mao’s birthplace, on the eve of the communist leader’s birthday. With paroles echoing across the square, the protesters condemned the capitalist restoration policies of the ruling Communist Party of China, calling for a return to socialism and collectivization. ◾The protests were part of broader celebrations of the 130th anniversary of Mao’s birth; over 111,000 people visited his hometown, Shaoshan, in Hunan province, marking a 713% increase from last year, according to local authorities, who organized various activities to commemorate the special event.
