San Diego: Police Standoff Ends in Arrest 09182020

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 9-18-20 8:30 am approx LOCATION: 5th Ave & Fir St CITY: San Diego DETAILS: The CVS store at this location reported to the police that a female had stolen several hundred dollars of merchandise and had gotten into a Cadillac Escalade in the parking lot across the street. When officers arrived, they found the transgender male still present and ordered the suspect out of the SUV and he was non-compliant. The officers also discovered the SUV was reported stolen out of Dallas, Texas. The suspect eventually got out of the SUV, but still would not comply with the officers’ orders and surrender until he finished his bottle of wine. He took his time drinking the wine and when he finished the bottle, he put it down and walked over to the Police, and surrendered. UPDATE: This incident took place during the BLM phase in 2020, where officers were accused of everything they did is wrong. This incident took so long as to try and de-escalate the situation.
