Today we take a look at what Russian propaganda is saying about the West. Since the war in Ukraine broke out, relations between Russia and the West have deteriorated significantly. The Russian media are different than those in other Western countries. Channels such as Russia-1 are significantly influenced by Russian authorities, while some programmes, such as the one's hosted by Vladimir Solovyov, are verbally hostile towards Western countries and at times, even making strong threats towards the West, such as nuclear warfare. Our OSW Russia expert looks at examples of Russian propaganda television programmes and breaks down their most common narratives. We expose their hybrid warfare function and their attempt at psychological warfare with the West. We also look at the most common themes in these programmes: the war in Ukraine, Putin's fear-mongering speeches and threats to NATO countries.
