Check out the Micro Blood Dot Egg in action in Mike's Elkhorn Creek Video - Check out Mike's Wooly Bugged channel on youtube - This simple egg fly pattern is great for steelhead and trout alike. This micro-egg fly pattern can be tied in a range of sizes, but smaller dense eggs should be around 1/4 in diameter and tied on size 16 or 18 hooks. the fly pattern is simple to tie, but you may need to practice trimming the yarn so that the bottom and top are even. Be sure that you have sharp scissors and that you grasp and pull the yarn when you snip it. You can use Egg yarn or the McFly Foam yarn. It's my experience that the McFly foam material creates a better egg fly pattern with it being able to hold a better shape when wet. Thanks to Mike for the additional footage and photos.
