Yemen's Houthis downed a US MQ-9 Reaper drone on August 4, saying the UAV* was conducting hostile activities in the skies over Saada province. Houthi’s spokesperson Yahya Saree noted that the drone was downed using a homegrown surface-to-air missile. Saree claimed the incident marked the seventh loss of an MQ-9 over Yemen since the Gaza war began in October 2023. Photos of the wreckage of a drone appeared on social media, showing remnants of a matte-grey UAV lying on a rocky hillside in a rural area.
