siRNA is a type of manufactured RNA designed to specifically target a particular strand of mRNA for degradation. When the mRNA is targeted and destroyed this ultimately lowers the level of protein that would have been made from the mRNA strand. This can be done for diseases where an overproduction of a type of protein is causing an illness or distress to the body. So, if you think of mRNA as building proteins we can think of siRNA as erasing proteins.
