Like many other large cities, Moscow has come a long way to becoming the capital of a colonial superpower. However, few people consider that only 1000 years ago this city probably did not even exist. In this video, we trace the bloody trail that stretches back to the rise of the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Beginning its existence as a small town of the Vladimir principality, Moscow gradually strengthened its position thanks to ambitious and cruel rulers. Gradually, local princes seized new and new neighboring lands, not shying away from collaboration with the Mongols of the Golden Horde, who, however, were also deceived if it was beneficial. This video traces the growth of Moscow in battles, and, even more commonly, through the purchase of land. Over time, the strengthened Moscow began to etch all neighboring states, such as the Novgorod Republic or the Vladimir-Suzdal principality. By the beginning of the 16th century, Moscow had turned into a huge state, and it was not going to stop. This was only the beginning of what would soon become a ruthless empire
