Brandon Fraser won this year’s Best Actor Oscar for his role as a 600-lb. man in The Whale. But not everyone is cheering Fraser’s achievement. Specifically, Daily Beast writer Rebecca Bodenheimer has labeled the film “fatphobic,” although she admits to not having seen it. The “thin” writer and director perpetuate fat stereotypes in the film, she says, and continue Hollywood’s shameful policy of putting thin actors in fat suits rather than hire fat actors.
