Have you tried practicing mindfulness and noticed that it is not so easy to keep your attention in the present moment? Let's explore some of the reasons why! 1. The present moment doesn't exist. In order to be fully present in the here and the now we need to make sure that there is nothing in our past that is seeping to the present moment and pulling us back, like past traumas. 2. Spiritual bypassing. Are you using mindfulness and meditation in order to avoid experiencing unpleasant emotions? Well, mindfulness is not a technique to control your emotions, but is a way to observe them as they arise, stay and go. 3. Mindfulness as a trend. Some people practice mindfulness only because someone else told them that it is good. If it doesn't come naturally and authentically why do it? You deserve better then shapeshift in order to be liked by others. 4. Attachment to the outcomes. When we expect certain effect to occur during or after mindfulness we are missing the point of the practice. Mindfulness is not a practice of “what should be“, but a practice of “what is“ 5. Lack of integration. Mindfulness is not only to be practiced during a certain period of day for a certain period of time, it is rather a life style changing practice that to be kept at all times. 6. Taking it too seriously. If Dalai Lama can crack jokes about his meditation, so can you! Overall, please remember that there is no such thing as perfect mindfulness. There is no one sitting there grading how well you perform. Just sit back, laugh at the bumps and enjoy the ride. 00:00 Intro 00:28 Preamble: A Sick Monk 02:06 Reason #1 The Present Moment Doesn't Exist 09:24 Reason #2 Spiritual Bypassing 14:24 Reason #3 Mindfulness As A Trend 15:44 Reason #4 Attachment To The Outcomes 17:21 Reason #5 Lack Of Integration 18:14 Reason #6 Taking It Too Seriously 19:02 Outro Video about a man who forgot why his wife divorced him
