This is the latest piece for my /_ARK_/ project. The final version can be found on Artstation, here: I’ve recorded the whole process for this image and split it into three sections. This is the second video in the series, “Part II: 3D Modelling and Render - using SketchUp and Keyshot”. Taking the rough idea from Part I, this video creates a 3D block-out of the whole scene using SketchUp. To also help out with some lighting ideas, the model is dropped in Keyshot to play around with different materials. By the end of the final piece in Part III, the design changes from the original model - but I think that’s just part of the creative process. The 3D base really helps support my design ideas and gives a good indication of where the image can go and if things change, things change. I also played around with some kit-bashing elements. Some parts were purchased by David Lesperance, available here: Other elements were taken from one of my my old 3D models, ‘The Cyborg’. The video of that process is available here, if you’re interested: The other videos for this series include: Part I: Compositions Ideas and Mood Painting - using Custom Shapes in Photoshop - available here: Part III: Digital Paint Over - using Photoshop - available here: I hope some of you find the videos useful :) Cheers!
