US: Pro-Palestine Protests Intensify at Universities, Over 200 Arrested; White House Urges “Peace“ The White House stressed the importance of peaceful pro-Palestinian protests at US universities, following the arrest of approximately 275 students across four campuses over the weekend. “We fully support the right to peaceful protest,“ stated National Security Council spokesman John Kirby. However, he denounced recent instances of anti-Semitic rhetoric and condemned all forms of hate speech and violence. The demonstrations initially began at Columbia University in New York but quickly spread nationwide. While many campuses have remained peaceful, the number of protesters being detained is on the rise, with incidents involving police in riot gear using chemical irritants and tasers on protesters.
