In one, the main character is Dana Rose, a young pianist living in the Wagen region (the capital of the fictional Central European state of Ostertal) in the 1930s. In the other, the main character from the previous games in the Siberia series, Kate Walker. On her next mission, Dana learned that Leon had miraculously survived the winter in the mountains after escaping, and was now leading one of Vagen’s most successful resistance groups. Dana agreed to parachute into Vagen and coordinate a dangerous mission to evacuate important civilians to Switzerland. After visiting the Baden cemetery, Yunta confesses to Kate that she has come to Vagen because she needs to identify the bodies found earlier in Devil’s Pass. It’s assumed that they died during the Great Patriotic War, but all these decades the corpses have been lying in ice and are therefore well preserved. Yunta is sure that one of these bodies is Leon. Kate fears that Dana is among them. Despite the approaching storm, Kate decides to go immediately to the Silberspiegel camp, where the bodies have been taken. As a result, Léon’s body is indeed found among the bodies recovered, but not Dana’s. Kate returns to Leni and asks for clarification. It turns out that after his escape, Leon survived the harsh Baltayar winter thanks to the Gorun tribe, who accepted him. When war broke out, Leon decided to return to Vagen with the young Gorun (who took the name Ludwig Hardtak) he had saved on the expedition. Together with Leni, they organized the headquarters of the Resistance network in the Silberspiegel camp. Leni really hoped that Leon would forget Dana, whom they both believed to have been killed with her parents during the Vagen pogroms. However, after Dana was parachuted near the camp, her relationship with Léon resumed with renewed vigor, angering Leni. Out of jealousy, she ceded the location of the headquarters to her father, Herr Gustav, who managed to join the Brown Shadows. The camp was attacked. Leon intended to evacuate the Exners (the civilians for whom he and Dana were responsible under London’s orders) while the others covered them up. In the shoot-out, Leni received the same fatal wound, which confined her to a wheelchair. As the number of camp defenders dwindled, Ludwig’s rage grew; enraged, he eliminated all assailants. However, the explosion of the grenade triggered an avalanche that buried Leon and his protégés.
