The “Santa Train“ travels 110 miles through the Appalachian Mountains passing out toys and candy to kids on its 14 stops. The Santa Train started out as a celebration of all the success the coal mining communities were having, but as the years went on and mines closed, many people have lost their livelihoods. Now the gifts from the train are the only ones some kids get for Christmas. Our grandma actually grew up in a coal mining community with her family in West Virginia so this song has deep roots for us. Patty Loveless wrote this song and we think it's such a fun tune and love the joy this train brings to so many people.
