Built in 1891, the mansion is believed by many to be haunted by the soul of Isabella Lougheed who died in 1936. The family struggled financially during the great depression and were not able to make the land property taxes for the mansion. The house was seized by the city but due to her prestige and social status, the Lougheed widow was allowed to remain in the mansion until her death in 1936.
