A very diverse country, Indonesia encompasses hundreds of different dances from different cultures. Tari saman (or Saman Dance) is one of the many witnesses of the cultural diversity and mysticism in Indonesia. Originating from Aceh, Tari saman incorporates arabic and gayo, a native language in Aceh, as the main way of expression. Tari saman is mostly used as a way to give out messages to the audience, and it reflects education, religiosity, and manners, and unity. Recorded at Taste of OSU on Friday, January 29, 2010 at The Ohio State University by Office of International Affairs videographer Victor van Buchem.
