NEW: A major, prolonged heatwave will occur next week across the Midwest and Northeast as a potentially record-strong heat dome builds overhead. Major to extreme heat risks (highlighted in red and purple) are expected across many major cities for multiple days in a row as heat indices soar into the upper 90s and low 100s. Nights will be hot and humid, with many cities not dropping below 70°F for several nights in a row, allowing little to no overnight recovery from the brutal daytime heat. Warm nights are often overlooked, but they are, in fact, the most dangerous part of heatwaves. Colin McCarthy Source: Police frequency
