In the Netherlands the history of the French chanson is highlighted this month with prime time features on tv. That is why we highlight our exclusive videos of French chansonniers such as Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Becaud, Juliette Greco, Jacques Brel (Belgian) , Francoise Hardy and others. This exclusive AVRO broadcast was recorded at the annual ’Edison Gala’ in the Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht, the Netherlands on October 28, 1980. Aznavour is accompanied by the Utrechts Symfonie Orchestra with the Roumanian director Corneliu Drumbraveanu. Introduction to the audience is by the well known Dutch AVRO tv presenter Willem Duys. This song written by Charles Aznavour himself, was first published on his album ’Autobiographie’, his 30th French studio album by the French-Armenian singer, released in 1980.
