#di_vito It is here that you most clearly feel that St. Petersburg is a port city. Ships entering the northern capital first of all see the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment - the industrial zones of the Admiralty shipyards on the left bank of the Neva and luxurious palaces, churches and educational institutions on the right. The first inhabitants of the embankment were the architect Trezzini, the diplomat Osterman, Admiral Zotov, in a word, the associates of Peter I. After all, the emperor planned to make Vasilyevsky Island the center of the capital. All residents of the embankment were obliged to strengthen it. Opposite the house, drive in piles and use stone or building brushwood. So let’s take a walk to get enough of the sea breeze, a magnificent panorama and plunge into history. The prospect of the embankment is opened by the icebreaker Krasin (1916), a museum ship, a legend of the Arctic fleet. Created according to the project of Admiral Makarov, he did not cut, but crushed the ice: he climbed it with his nose, rolled up his belly, and broke it with his own weight. He pierced the Northern Sea Route, saved the Nobel expedition, conducted northern convoys during the Great Patriotic War and until the 1990s. worked in Murmansk! Further, the embankment smoothly turns into a pier. You need to go to it along the ladder, the landing stage is the ticket office of the S-189 submarine museum. This is the most massive post-war submarine project of the USSR. S-189 was built in 1954 and served until the 1990s. She went to the Baltic, the Atlantic, tested weapons in Lake Ladoga. After the decommissioning, the submarine stood at the pier for a long time, but the equipment rotted, and it sank right in the port of Kronstadt. At the initiative of the veterans, the boat was raised in 2005, repaired at the Kanonersky Zavod, and in 2009 it was placed at the pier of the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment and opened as a museum. Opposite is the Assumption Cathedral. Before the revolution - the courtyard of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Under the USSR, a skating rink was built here. Now restored, Optina Pustyn farmstead operates here. Nearby - the building of the Naval Institute. Kuznetsov, formerly the Cadet Corps, and it was rebuilt from the palace of Petrovsky Field Marshal Minich. In the neighborhood - a monument to Kruzenshtern (1873). On the plate: “To the first Russian swimmer around the world ...“, the letter “a“ in the word “sailor“ is torn off. But what is this! Since the 1970s he even stood WITHOUT a dagger ... They returned it only in 1999. Then we turn onto the 7th pedestrian line. We go around the corner with columns - this is the House of Academicians (beginning of the 19th century). After all, the Academy of Sciences is nearby! Here, among others, lived Academician Pavlov, the one who experiments on dogs. Here we have a dog walking past the columns in the frame! Then we see the preserved paving stones on Akademichesky Lane. A group of punks defiles by. We pass by Dr. Pel’s pharmacy - the oldest pharmacy in the city. Now there is a museum. Artists - Chinese students of our Academy of Arts, which is nearby - paint from nature St. Andrew’s Cathedral (1728 / 1764) Next to it is a low red church - the Three Ecumenical Hierarchs - many St. Petersburg Georgians come here to pray. Before the revolution, this temple was given to the Georgian community. On the wall of the main entrance there is an old marble plaque - a former tombstone with an epitaph in Georgian about Princess G. N. Amilakhvari, the daughter of a Kakhetian prince, who was buried in 1745. From here begins the pedestrian part of the 6th and 7th lines. Fountains, cafes, street musicians, shops and - a monument to Vasily Korchmin, the commander of the bombardment company, from whom the island allegedly got its name А заканчиваем у метро Василеостровская, рядом с памятником конке. Потому что первая в Санкт-Петербурге конка появилась тоже тут - на набережной Лейтенанта Шмидта If you subscribe, it will be very good: or here We are also raising money for a device for filming a documentary about Fr. David, rector of the Holy Dormition Makarievskaya Hermitage, fundraising here: Save you GOD!
