This beautiful historic old house in the mountains of west Virginia, was built in 1810. For a colonel in the revolutionary war, who fought in the continental army then had this house built. Only 50 some years later the house would be used as a field hospital during a few small civil war battles and skirmishes. It Supposedly was briefly used as a Union headquarters in 1864. Then after surviving the civil war the house would be foreclosed on by the bank and abandoned much of the reconstruction era until being bought and restored in the early 1900’s. For nearly a century the house would run as a dairy farm until recently selling for around 3 million. Now there is a proposal too put up a new subdivision on the land and no mention of saving the house unfortunately. Most likely will end up torn down but glad it’s saved in pictures and videos atleast. Loved this house, such a perfect setting and so many incredible details like along the staircase & the hand carved fireplace mantles. Truly a very grand house in i
