Israeli airstrikes have destroyed a historic Ottoman-era market in the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh, killing at least one person and wounding four others. The market, dating back to 1910, was leveled overnight as Israeli forces continue their ground operations in southern Lebanon. Lebanon’s Civil Defense reported battling fires in 12 residential buildings and 40 shops, as residents mourned the destruction of their livelihoods. “Our livelihoods have all been leveled to the ground,“ said Ahmad Fakih, a local shop owner whose corner store was reduced to rubble. Rescuers are searching through pancaked buildings, while Israeli drones continue to fly overhead. Nabatieh, a city hosting displaced people, is one of many communities Israel has ordered to evacuate in the wake of escalating violence since September.
