The Phantom of the Opera is a 1962 British horror film based on the novel by Gaston Leroux. The film was made by Hammer Film Productions and stars Herbert Lom in the title role. It is largely based upon the 1943 remake of the original film. It also features Patrick Troughton, best known for his role in Doctor Who as the 2nd Doctor, as a minor character (The Rat Catcher).
