The song is the original 12“ remix of Together In Electric Dreams by Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey, (c) 1984 Virgin Records The movie is Electric Dreams (c) 1984 Virgin Films Ltd/Metro Goldwyn Mayer. This is a revamp of the original video that I love, and put a remixed version of the song on the video, to bring this amazing song back to life again. ****UPDATE**** If you live in the UK, the movie is now available on Blu-Ray! Available on Amazon : “Together in Electric Dreams“ is a song by the British singer and composer Philip Oakey and producer Giorgio Moroder. It was written by Oakey and Moroder and recorded for the original soundtrack of the 1984 film Electric Dreams. It later formed part of the joint album Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder, released in 1985. Released as a single in the UK in September 1984 it proved a major commercial success, actually eclipsing the original film it was intended to promote. Reaching #3 in the UK Singles Chart, staying in the charts for 13 weeks. It would prove to be the only hit of the brief Oakey/Moroder partnership. It was finally released as a single in the United States in 1988. This is a re-vision of a video I did about 5-6 months ago, I had never been 100% happy with the result to be honest, well, this is about as close as I am going to get to being 100% perfect. Legal stuff.... Together in Electric Dreams © 1984 Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey Electric Dreams movie © 1984 Virgin Films/Metro Goldwyn Mayer Original video is © 1984 Virgin Records/Virgin Films/Metro Goldwyn Mayer This has to be the song deemed as my all time favourite, it tells a story of love, life and friendship in such a way, that sometimes you lose what it is front of you before you knew it was even there. Who says that friends need to be the people that are sitting beside you, they don't, friends can be thousands of miles from you, you may not speak for weeks, but you know you can pick up from where you left off very easily. In love terms, the end of this movie actually says it all... When Miles asks Madeline why she is interested in him... her reply complicated, but sums up how things “should be“ “Even when you were'nt there, it like you were..“ the line “Miles..... I guess I love you..“ does actually bring a lump to the throat lol.. Ok, the movie is kind of a cult classic, but has some amazing music in it, the best of the UK's best in that time, Heaven 17, Jeff Lynne (lead man of ELO), Culture Club, Helen Terry (culture club backing singer). Some amazing sequences written or re-arranged by the king of popular movie music at the time Giorgio Moroder, whom scored movies like Top Gun, etc, at the time. I was just so glad to have seen this movie first time round, and their vision of what computers can do some 30 years ago, is even a pipe dream today, I waited 9 years for this movie to hit VHS, and then had to wait for a further 15 years for it to hit DVD. If you want to watch a decent movie with some amazing tunes in it, and can handle a little smidgen of cheese on the side, try to locate this on DVD, it is relatively cheap, and a worthy feel good movie, has some nice comedy sequences in too, like “Edgars“ first song written to Madeline for Miles.... Miles Harding: “You can play it for her, you can play it for me.“ Edgar: What? Miles Harding: Play it, Sam. Edgar: What key? Miles Harding: Your favorite. Edgar: You want verses first, or the choruses? Miles Harding: Any way you like. Edgar: Yeah! [instrumental bridge of Jeff Lynne's song “Video“ plays] Edgar: [singing] Hug, hold, squeeze and lick / Darling, I love you to bits / And I want to see your tits.
