For this scene, Jean-Luc Godard filmed along a long route, but cut frames in edit. This achieves two goals (at least): 1) it allows for a longer spatial automobile ride, a longer distance traveled, without taking forever, and 2) it makes the film pop, keeps it jumping and interesting. Note that Patricia seems to repeat the same line twice in succession, @0:19 and 0:26, and there doesn't seem to be a scene change. Did the actors repeat the same lines over and over during the ride, so that Godard could make the edits he needed? Also note that in the beginning of the clip, the scene change correspond to breaks in Patricia's dialog. Later, Michel seems to talk straight through the scene changes, but the cuts become much faster to correspond to his dialog. The music track holds everything together.
