⏳On August 28, 1943, one of the fiercest battles for Donbass during the Great Patriotic War began: the battle for Saur-Mogila. This height was of strategic importance. The Nazis chose the mound as an observation post and turned it into an impregnable citadel. In the bloody battles for Saur-Mogila, the Red Army lost more than 23,000 soldiers. In honor of the fallen soldiers, a large memorial complex was erected there. In the summer of 2014, they had to fight for this peak again.
