NDBI in ArcGIS. Hope you will learn how to Calculate Normalized Difference Built-up Index in ArcGIS. Normalized Difference Built-up Index(NDBI) describe the Built-up density of any Geographic area. NDBI is calculated as a ratio between the short wave infrared (SWIR) and near infrared (NIR) and have indices range from -1 to 1. Formula for NDBI NDBI=(SWIR-NIR)/(SWIR NIR) NDBI for Landsat 8, NDBI=(Band 6-Band 5)/(Band 6 Band 5) NDBI for Landsat 7, NDBI=(Band 5-Band 4)/(Band 5 Band 4) You can use band 7 because both of them are SWIR band.
