Russian fighter got awarded By the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, deputy platoon commander Ivan Kalashnikov with the call sign ‘Bolshoi’ [Big] was nominated for the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. For the courage and heroism shown in repelling an attack by several times superior enemy forces at the position of the 37th Separate Guards Motorised Rifle Brigade near the village of Urozhainoye in the South Donetsk direction, Kalashnikov was presented by the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation to title of Hero of the Russian Federation. Footage from an unmanned aerial vehicle shows five Russian servicemen, two of whom were wounded during this battle, confronting 12 attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The unit commander with the call sign ‘Bolshoi’ skillfully led his subordinates, while taking on the main heat of the battle, being in full view of the enemy and conducting constant aimed fire at the attackers. Two more fighters worked on the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack aircraft from the flanks of the dugouts. The unit acted harmoniously, like one organism.
