Use headphones for the full immersive experience. 3D Binaural Recording. 4K SOUNDSCAPE This is an ambient recording during a warm summers day sunrise from inside Wistman's Wood in Dartmoor National Park, UK. This wood is ancient and has been mentioned in writing for hundreds of years. The theory is that it dates back to 7000BC when much of Dartmoor was covered in twisted oak trees. Now just a few small patches like this wood remain. The oldest oak trees in Wistman's Wood have been dated at 400-500 years old and have survived due to the moss covered granite boulders making the wood impenetrable to grazing livestock. There are also many old stories of Druids, ghosts and devils associated with this wood, with one writer calling it 'the most haunted place in Dartmoor'. I arrived at the wood well before sunrise and had no spooky experiences with ghosts or demons while waiting for the sun to rise. The ancient woodland sunrise ambience is filled with the dawn chorus of birds living in this wood. As the light from the sun began to splinter through the twisted trees, the midges came out in full force. I spent the morning with every part of exposed skin covered up to stop being bitten. The sounds of the birds is accompanied by a bed of sound from a nearby stream which was running just outside the woodland. Sounds can be used for sleep, relaxation, meditation and more.
