Track 1 from their third studio album “Eat A Peach“ released in 1972 copyright Capricorn Records. The album shipped with Gold status, and was certified Platinum in 1995. The critical and commercial success of “At Fillmore East” found the band thrust into the spotlight. Then tragedy struck when Duane Allman was killed in a horrific motorcycle crash in Macon on Oct. 29, 1971. The brotherhood vowed to carry on in their leader Duane’s memory and realize his vision. “Eat A Peach” was already partially recorded, so three more new songs, like this one, and some unreleased live tracks from the Fillmore recordings were added. It became one of their best-selling albums. Written by Gregg Allman and produced by Tom Dowd. RIP Duane Allman, Berry Oakley, Tom Dowd, Butch Trucks & Gregory Lenoir Allman. Featuring: Duane Allman - Slide, lead & acoustic guitars Gregg Allman - Lead vocals, Hammond B-3 organ, piano, electric piano & acoustic guitar Dickey Betts - Lead vocals, lead, slide & acoustic guitars, monkey skulls Berry Oakley - Bass Jai Johanny Johanson - Drums & Congas Butch Trucks - Drums, tympani, gong, vibes, tambourine & percussion Last Sunday mornin' the sunshine felt like rain The week before they all seemed the same With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize I still had two strong legs and even wings to fly And oh, I ain't wastin’ time no more 'Cause time goes by like hurricanes and faster things Lord, Lord Miss Sally, why all your cryin'? Been around here three long days, lookin' like you're dyin' Just step yourself outside and look up at the stars above Go on downtown baby, find somebody to love Meanwhile I ain't wastin' time no more 'Cause time goes by like pourin' rain and much faster things You don't need no gypsy to tell you why You can't let one precious day slip by Look inside yourself and if you don't see what you want Maybe sometimes then you don't But leave your mind alone and just get high, slow down child Well, by and by, way after many years have gone And all the war freaks die off, leavin' us alone We'll raise our children in the peaceful way we can It's up to you and me brother to try and try again Well, hear us now, we ain't wastin' time no more 'Cause time rolls by like hurricanes runnin' after subway trains Don't forget the pourin' rain
