This is footage of Anna Pavlova and the great Russian bass, Fyodor Chaliapin, feeding swans at the lakeside in the garden of her home, Ivy House, at Golders Green. The two are initially seen feeding the swans at the water's edge and then walking away from the lake and towards the movie camera. I wonder if one of the swans is the famous 'Jack', with whom Pavlova was so photographed? There's a curious little wire concourse fence comes from the lakeside into the water and opens up into a circular enclosure - perhaps contain the fish in the water? Nomoretwist1 kindly added some background to this bit of film: “This film was taken in July 1923 as a publicity stunt organized by manager Sol Hurok who represented both stars.“ Enjoy!
