Part Of: Mar-A-Lago Release Date: Buy Link: Love Birds SoundCloud | Release Text: Sebastian Döring, aka Lovebirds, met Declan when he put up his old Studer console for sale a few years back. Since their initial meeting, the multi-instrumentalist from Sydney – living in Berlin since 2017 - and Lovebirds have enjoyed many productive studio sessions together. Declan McDermott is the full package: guitar, bass, keys, vocals (even drums and percussion) and Lovebirds has taken full advantage of these skills. Title track ‘Mar-A-Lago Sunset Theme’ came together within an hour at the very end of a late Friday night studio session. Like all good things that happen in the studio, it flowed quickly and naturally. A lovely mid to late 70s inspired up-tempo soul banger with a solid octave bassline, a catchy rhythm guitar hook, and a slick Fender Rhodes lick. Think Azymuth meets Patrice Rushen with too much tape delay, and you’ll have the measure of it. On the flip ‘Great Ocean Road’ starts off as a fusion where Americana meets a solid soul gem. There’s a tinge of acoustic guitar strumming, Rhodes, bass, and beautiful synth work. This is all followed by a breakdown mid-song that transforms the track into a whole new beast. Another regular visitor to the Lovebirds studio is Black Loops, who plays drums on this cut! There are sexy disco basslines with even more synths and again, too much Roland Space Echo. Who doesn’t love that shit? This is the first release of this slick new combo. Lovebirds and Declan McDermott have been hard at work in the studio nonstop so expect more from this talented duo in 2023 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Berlin House Music Submit Your Music | Store | Instagram | YouTube | Facebook | SoundCloud |
