Critical Theory is really not as big or frightening a threat as it is currently being made out to be by its critics. Culture wars are a thing of modern societies and life; they are a thing of (modern) politics and are pretty much here to stay for the long run. There is nothing to fear except change, and it is disingenuous to blame a theory and those who incorporate it into their lives and studies for the ambiguity and precariousness of change and our liberal age. I wouldn't bother buying their books! I made that mistake... *Apologies for my lighting: I have not figured it out yet. I also filmed during a heatwave and clearly couldn't handle it. Chapters: 0:00 Explanation 2:59 An Introduction; A Little Context 8:54 How the critics of critical theory define Critical Theory 15:02 A Very Short Introduction to Critical Theory in Weimar Germany 16:40 The Institut für S*xualwissenschaft (an example of Critical Theory in practice and without communism at its core) 23:53 The Political (according to Carl Schmitt) 37:34 Concluding remarks I hope you enjoy this video. Do let me know your thoughts down below. I would be intrigued to read and respond to your own thoughts on the modern 'culture wars'. Thank you for your time, for subscribing and engaging.
