During a tour in 1994, Pearl Jam played a show in New Orleans. Vedder had been feeling particularly playful that day and decided to have some fun with the audience. At one point during the show, he jumped into the crowd and started singing while surfing on top of the fans. As he was making his way back to the stage, Vedder noticed a man wearing an Elvis Presley costume in the crowd. He motioned for the man to come up on stage and handed him his guitar. The man, who was later identified as a local musician named Hack Bartholomew, proceeded to perform a chaotic and hilarious version of Elvis's “Heartbreak Hotel“. After the song ended, Vedder jokingly asked “Does anyone else want to come up here and play my guitar?“ As if on cue, another audience member stepped forward and started to climb on stage. Vedder quickly called for security, but it turned out that the man was actually a member of the band's road crew who had decided to play a prank on Vedder. The incident ended with
