At Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, it appears that a major volcanic eruption could soon occur as 30 million cubic meters of magma has recent intruded underneath the volcano. Such a major eruption likely would not occur at Kilauea's east rift zone, but rather instead within its southwest rift zone which has not erupted since 1974. As a result, we may soon witness an eruptive series that will mark a first in fifty years! Thumbnail Photo Credit: Two Pineapples, Used with Permission. It is merely this author's opinion that a volcanic eruption is likely at Kilauea. His opinion could end up being incorrect.
