Welcome back. Today we will dive deep into some newly rediscovered photographs of the “construction” of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, which was held in Hyde Park in the city of Chicago. These photographs have only recently been revealed for public viewing, and I found these images to be an exquisite addition to our discussion of American Architecture before the year 1900. I have a handful of other videos detailing the end result of this construction; the beautiful, yet temporary structures of The World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. However, I have never before had the opportunity to see the wonderful construction photographs showcased in today’s video. Where are the workers? Where are the machines? How was it all built in a matter of months? Is it, truly, all temporary? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas in the comment section. This is a glimpse into one of the greatest aspects of Chicago’s history. Enjoy! Topics discussed today: 's_Columbian_Exposition 's_fair ,_Chicago (lawyer) (1893)
