A pupil of the school attached to the convent, Denis Ryabov, said that he did not hear the explosion. “They said that there was [an explosion], but I could only tell it from the smell,” the boy said. Local resident Ruslan Karpov said that the emergency services arrived at the scene quickly but also criticised the protection of the convent. “It's weak in terms of protection. It is definitely weak in terms of protection,” the man commented. A guard of the convent said the children were immediately evacuated after the explosion, adding that the territory is fenced off and a code is needed to enter the premises.
