In the heart of Central America, Nicaragua is home to the phenomenal Masaya volcano, which has been active for more than 30,000 years. He is at the origin of the largest known eruptions. The surrounding landscape has been altered with each lava flow, ashes and gas explosions. In the center lies a great desert, an empty land. Whenever the Masaya volcano erupts, life resumes and rises from the ashes. The history of life on Earth and fire are intimately linked: volcanism is at the origin of the formation of the first organic molecules and the appearance of life on Earth.
