pf: Yurlov Russian Choir, USSR State Symphony Orchestra Evgeny Svetlanov Margarita Miglau (soprano), Nina Isakova (mezzo-soprano), Glafira Koroleva (contralto) Iz Gomera () was composed in 1901 and premiered in 1905. The work, subtitled a “prelude-cantata“, consists mostly of a long and highly pictorial orchestral overture that depicts the sea voyage from Homer's Odyssey: Ulysses, thrown by Poseidon into the sea, is protected by the veil of the goddess Leucothea, daughter of Cadmus.
