Ameca, a half-impressive, half-absolutely horrifying robot with genuine facial expressions, was recently shown to us as an easy way for humans and robots to communicate with one another. It's all very “Uncanny Valley,“ but it's impressive to see the state of the art in action. The good news is that Ameca has recently been improved. British scientists have given the chatbot GPT-3 the ability to converse naturally without human guidance. Humanoid robots like the one they built are a reality today; they can move their faces in a convincing manner and carry on a natural dialogue.
